Cumbria's Lost Railways, Peter W. Robinson
Product Information (more info)
Description of Cumbria's Lost Railways
Today there are railway lines along the Furness peninsula, up the west coast of Cumbria, and also up the Lune Gorge and over Shap to the east. Apart, though, from the short line from Oxenholme to Windermere and a handful of heritage tourist lines there is nothing that really penetrates the county. Lines such as the one to Coniston, the Penrith-Keswick-Cockermouth-Workington line, the east-west route from Tebay and over Stainmore Pass, the complex of lines around industrial Workington and the coal pits; all these have gone. Here is a book to remind us of what once was.
