Lake District Maps

Over the past few years of writing about the Lake District I must have bored many people with the constantly repeated mantra, "Don't go on the fells without a good map". To this has to be added, "... and don't think that a satnav or even a posh outdoor GPS unit is going to replace a paper map. In the mountains it isn't!" That's not to say that the modern techological part-replacements are of no value. It's just that in an emergency when you most need a signal you might well find that there isn't one.
